This spot for 2fm plays with the old movie technique of rear projection, showing the star broadcasters messing around in front of projected backgrounds in costume, before ‘coming together’ around a recording desk in a giant radio studio. A horse riding simulator was used to show Hector on his trusty steed (which went briefly, but disturbingly out of control), while a real hot air balloon basket was suspended from soundstage trusses to transport Colm Hayes into a Jules Verne fantasy (matte painting by Piranha Bar’s Ciaran Brennan). A vintage motorbike and convertible MG car completed the main props list, leaving everything else to be generated digitally after extracting all the action from green screen.
